Wars will never stop if we continue to supply bodies to keep them going.

Help us open the eyes of our youth and the people who guide them. Browse our web site to learn more and find out what you can do.

What Can You Do?

  • Start an opt-out campaign NOW at your local high school.
  • Take action to publicize schools' promotion of military recruiters, such as the Madison School District's display of Army recruiting ads.
  • Find out what your school's policy is on military recruiting, and work toward limiting access to students.
  • Make sure all parents & students are aware of the opt-out form and that your school makes it easily accessible to those who wish to submit one.
  • Find out what your school's guidance counselors know about military recruiting and enlistment. Offer to provide alternative materials to clarify the reality of enlistment for students. (see Resources)
  • Encourage students to form a peace group at their school to sponsor tables, forums, and other events to educate students about military recruiting and war. Offer your help providing materials, speakers, or connecting the group with veterans (see Veterans for Peace or Iraq Veterans Against the War)
  • Offer to speak at parent-teacher meetings to educate others about recruiting practices, enlistment and war.
  • Be a visible presence in your community. Others may feel as you do but not know where to find like-minded people.
  • Write letters to your local newspaper.
