Recruiting and Militarism in Schools
School Counselors
School counselors have a lot to do with what kind of career and post-high school options students are exposed to. One thing we can do is provide them with plenty of material to help students figure out a future so they aren't tempted to join the military just for the money or adventure. And give them information to help students understand what joining the armed forces is really about.
With the help of many wonderful volunteers around the state, we have been distributing folders to as many school counselors as we can reach. The factual information and range of options are very much appreciated. But we have many more schools and counselors to reach.
We will have a table for the second year at the Wisconsin School Counselors Association Annual Conference, Feb. 25-26, 2010 in Stevens Point. Let us know if you're interested in spending some time at the table.
- Watch for the date of the next Packet Assembly Party in Madison.
