Recruiting and Militarism in Schools
The Options Project
School counselors have a lot to do with what kind of career and post-high school options students are exposed to. One thing we can do is provide them with plenty of material to help students figure out a future so they aren't tempted to join the military just for the money or adventure. And give them information to help students understand what joining the armed forces is really about.
With the help of many wonderful volunteers around the state, we have been personally distributing folders full of resources to school counselors around the state. If you would like to take a folder to a counselor in your area school, please contact us at info@tamewisconsin.org.
We've also tabled for 2 years at the Wisconsin School Counselors Association Annual Conference and met with enthusiastic responses.
